Scholarships That Pay for Your Visa, Flight, and Stay

“Full funding” now includes the full cost of moving in 2026. Many top schools now know that the cost of moving, which includes visa fees, airfare, and the cost of getting settled in, can be as high as the tuition itself. These scholarships are the “Gold Standard” for 2026/2027 because they cover all your trip costs.

1. Chevening Scholarships (UK)

The Chevening Award is the UK government’s biggest award for Master’s students. It is meant to get rid of all financial barriers for future leaders.

  • Coverage includes full tuition, a monthly living allowance, a round-trip ticket in economy class, and an allowance for arriving and leaving.
  • The Chevening Visa Benefit pays for the full cost of your UK student visa and the International Health Surcharge (IHS).
  • Applications for the 2027 intake usually open in August 2026 and close in November 2026.

2. The Fulbright Programme for Foreign Students in the US

The Fulbright Program is a full scholarship that takes care of all the details of moving to the US.

  • Coverage includes full tuition, a monthly stipend for living costs, and a specific housing allowance that is based on the cost of living in your US city.
  • The Flight & Visa Benefit: This includes the full cost of getting your J-1 visa and round-trip international travel.
  • Status of the 2027 intake: The deadlines for applications vary by country, but they usually fall between May and October 2026.

3. Scholarships for Australia Awards

The Australian government provides these awards to students from developing countries who have done well in school.

  • Full tuition, round-trip airfare, and a one-time establishment allowance (paid when you arrive to help with your first month’s rent and books) are all included.
  • The “CLE” Benefit: Gives you a “Contribution to Living Expenses” (CLE) every two weeks to help pay for food and getting around town.
  • 2027 Intake Status: From February 1 to April 30, 2026, people can apply for the 2027 cycle.

4. The MEXT Scholarship in Japan

The Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship is well-known for being stable over time and giving students a lot of money each month.

  • What it covers: 100% of tuition, a monthly allowance of about 143,000 JPY, and round-trip airfare from your home country to Japan.
  • The Accommodation Benefit: Students usually live in dorms at their universities, but the scholarship comes with a “Preparatory Allowance” to help with the first month’s rent.
  • 2027 Intake Status: Applications usually open in April 2026, and the embassy-track deadlines are in May or June 2026.

5. Scholarships from DAAD EPOS in Germany

The DAAD EPOS programme is the main way that professionals in Germany can get money to pay for their master’s degrees in development.

  • Coverage includes a monthly stipend of €992 for a master’s degree and €1,300 for a PhD, as well as a travel allowance and full health and accident insurance.
  • The “No-Blocked Account” Benefit: Because the DAAD provides a monthly stipend that exceeds the German visa requirement, you are exempt from opening a Blocked Account (Sperrkonto).
  • 2027 Intake Status: Different courses have different deadlines, but most of them close between August and October 2026.

6. Scholarships for the Commonwealth (UK)

The UK Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and UK universities work together on this programme.

  • What it covers: a monthly stipend (about HUF 43,700) and free tuition.
  • The Housing Benefit: You can get free dormitory housing or a monthly payment of HUF 40,000 (about $110) to help pay for private rent.
  • Status of the 2027 intake: The portal will open in November 2026 and close in January 2027.

Checklist for 2026 Applicants with a Plan

  1. Passport Readiness: Some portals let you start with a national ID, but you need to have a valid passport by the time you get your award letter in order to get the flight and visa benefits.
  2. The “Relocation” Buffer: Even if you have a full-ride scholarship, it’s a good idea to have at least $500–$1,000 in savings for “emergency” costs during your first 48 hours in a new country.
  3. Unconditional Offer: Many scholarships for the UK and Australia won’t book your flight or pay your visa fee until you get an unconditional offer from the university.
