Scholarships for Middle Eastern Universities (2026/2027)

Middle Eastern universities are now the best in the world at getting money for research, and they have some of the best “Full-Ride” packages out there. For the 2026–2027 cycle, schools in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are giving a lot of help. This includes not only tuition but also high-end housing, healthcare, and big monthly payments.

1. Saudi Arabia: The Research Powerhouses

Saudi Arabia has some of the world’s most valuable graduate fellowships, which are designed to attract the best STEM and business talent.

  • King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Fellowship: Every student who is accepted to KAUST automatically gets the fellowship. This package is fully funded and includes full tuition support, a monthly living allowance of $20,000 to $30,000 (depending on the level of degree), housing on campus, and full medical and dental coverage. For the 2026/2027 cycle, admission is based only on merit. Most of the people who get in have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • The King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Scholarship is for students who want to study engineering, especially petroleum engineering. Its Master’s and PhD scholarships for 2026 cover all of the costs of living, including tuition, a monthly stipend, furnished air-conditioned housing, free textbooks, and medical care. One unique thing about this scholarship is that it pays for research projects and subsidises meals in the university cafeteria. The deadlines for applying to the 2026/2027 sessions are spread out, with most of the big ones opening in late 2025 and mid-2026.

2. United Arab Emirates: New Ideas and Leadership

The UAE has become a centre for research into advanced technology and sustainable energy. It also gives a lot of money to international students in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

  • Khalifa University Graduate Scholarships: Khalifa University offers very competitive scholarships to Master’s and PhD students. The 2026/2027 package includes full or partial tuition coverage, a monthly stipend, books, housing, and health insurance. The university also helps international students with their visas and pays for their trips to and from the UAE every year. The last day to apply for the Fall 2026 semester was March 2, 2026. The last day to apply for the Spring 2027 semester is September 15, 2026.
  • UAEU Undergraduate Scholarships from the United Arab Emirates University: UAEU offers merit-based scholarships to high school graduates that cover 75% to 100% of their tuition. To get the 100% Full Tuition Waiver for the 2026/2027 school year, you need to have a minimum secondary school score of 98% and a high level of English proficiency (for example, IELTS 7.5 or TOEFL iBT 105). In May, June, and July of 2026, students can apply for the first semester of 2026/2027.

3. Qatar: Quality and Global Trade

Qatar’s “Education City” and national university are great places for international scholars to study.

  • Qatar University Graduate Scholarships: To get the best students from all over the world, Qatar University offers fully funded scholarships for its Master’s and PhD programmes. These scholarships pay for tuition, books, and housing at the university. The main application deadline for the 2026 school year was February 25, 2026. By the end of 2026, people who want to apply for the 2027 cycle should have their academic records and Statement of Purpose ready.
  • Funding for Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU): HBKU is located in Education City and has several colleges, such as Islamic Studies, Science and Engineering, and Public Policy, that offer different types of funding. February 1, 2026, was the last day for international graduate students to apply for admission in 2026. Residents and Qatari nationals who want to apply for funding have until March 15, 2026. Late applications for some categories close in May 2026.

4. Strategic Advice for Applications in the Middle East

  • Some universities, like KAUST, don’t require the GRE, but others, like Khalifa University and KFUPM, do. They may also require the GMAT (for an MBA) or GRE General scores. In 2026, engineering tracks will put a lot of weight on high quantitative scores.
  • NIN and Identity Management: For people from West Africa, the 2026 portals for Khalifa University and KFUPM need accurate identity information. To avoid delays in getting help with your visa, make sure that your National Identity Number (NIN) matches your passport and school records exactly.
  • The Statement of Purpose (SoP): In 2026, Middle Eastern scholarship committees will look for a clear connection between your research goals and the national strategies “Vision 2030” (Saudi Arabia) or “We, the UAE 2031.” Showing how your research helps solve problems in your area, like water security or renewable energy, will make your application much stronger.
